Bring the Gang to Lugang
>> Friday, February 24, 2012
The title basically sums up my sense of humor. :-P Corny-ness is the key to eternal youth, you guys!
So The BF didn't find it acceptable that I'd never been to Lugang Cafe when it's been open for business in Greenhills for so long now, so he brought me to the next best thing - Lugang in Mall of Asia!
I like how they still primped up the interiors, even if it's inside a mall. I particularly noticed the lovely light fixtures - birdcages and shadow effects, so creative. :-)
There were so many people, but they were very efficient at getting the two of us a nice table. We were seated at the mezzanine area, which was quieter so we liked it better.
Mango Jelly in Mango and Coconut Milk, PHP 130
Loved my specialty drink. Give me sweet ripe mangoes any day and I will probably be contented, but the coconut milk gave it a unique extra flavor. :-)
Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao, PHP 188 for 6 pieces
I didn't expect their xiao long bao to be reasonably priced, but it was! And it was really yummy - well to be fair, all xiao long baos I've tried so far have been yummy to me. But The BF said they were actually too thick and sticky compared to the ones he'd tasted in Hong Kong. I'm looking forward to trying out the Michelin-starred xiao long baos on our next trip there. :-)
Szechuan Dan-Dan Noodles with Peanut Sauces, PHP 230
Another surprise - I actually liked this dish. I was hesitant to try it because it looked so hot and spicy, but on the BF's nudging I had a bowl.. and finished every last bit. :-P It was only mildly spicy, tolerable even for a softie like me. The mix of flavors really got my tastebuds excited!
Taiwanese Crispy Chicken Nuggets
This looks and tastes a lot like the chicken strips in Serenitea, but I loved it anyway. What's not to love about breaded and peppered chicken strips served with fried basil??? If I had a favorite leaf in the world, it would be the basil leaf! I can eat it with anything. :-)
Green Tea Ice Cream and Red Bean Ice, PHP 180
I love the combination of red bean and ice cream. Now green tea ice cream, I wasn't exactly a fan of, but this one was really creamy and I learned to like it after the first two spoonfuls. I was really satisfied at the end of the meal. :-)
Glad I finally got to try this restaurant. I still wanna go visit their Greenhills branch!

I want that Szechuan Dan-Dan Noodles with Peanut Sauces!
Hello Manila girl :) ang sarap naman pala ng mga pagkain dyan sa Lugang cafe :) kaso feeling ko di abot ng budget ko hehehe..
They say you know xiao long baos are well-cooked if they don't tear right away. Dunno how true but, I loooove xiao long baos too!
I didn't know they have a branch at MOA (I'm not really a MOA goer anyway).
We've been there yesterday (8 of us) Food is Good. But service sucks. A waitress named Agnes was in charge of our table, and she wasn't paying attention to our order or even smiling, looked like she wishes she was not there. But in fact it was us who wished we were not there, this a shame when you have great food and beautiful surroundings.
